Kindle to Anki – Frequently Asked Questions

Wondering what are Kindle flashcards? They're Amazon's built-in study cards that appear after you highlight a word or definition while reading. Our service transforms those Kindle flashcards into Anki decks, giving you the closest thing to a seamless anki for kindle or anki kindle experience. Whether you like flashcards on Kindle or prefer to study elsewhere, the conversion is instant.

If you've ever searched for how to create flashcards in Kindle, how to make flashcards in Kindle app, or how to make flashcards on Kindle, the answer is simple: highlight words while you read. Kindle's Vocabulary Builder stores them in vocab.db. Our tool then performs the one-click kindle to anki conversion so your study material is ready in seconds.

Once your highlights have been exported, simply import the generated .apkg into Anki. This covers both how to use flashcards in Kindle and how to use Kindle flashcards when you're away from your e-reader.

While native apps aren't available, you can still enjoy an anki kindle paperwhite or anki kindle fire workflow by creating cards here and reviewing them on your phone, tablet, or desktop. Think of it as having anki on kindle—all the benefits without the hassle.

Drag your system/Vocabulary/vocab.db file into the converter and we instantly handle the kindle vocabulary builder to anki migration—no spreadsheets or manual typing needed.

There's no official anki overdrive app kindle yet, nor a dedicated anki app for kids kindle. However, by exporting your vocabulary with this tool, you can sync decks to any device, letting kids study safely and allowing OverDrive readers to keep their learning in one ecosystem.
